WILKES-BARRE — Police in Wilkes-Barre are investigating a shooting that happened on Hutson Street around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigators will not say much about what happened, except that they are investigating a case involving juveniles.

Officers said a prosecutor has been called about the shooting and a young man, who neighbors said is the victim’s brother, was taken away in the back of a police car to be questioned.

People on scene told Newswatch 16 the victim was taken away in an ambulance after being shot in the chest.

Neighbors said they heard screams and watched as the man ran out from a home on Hutson Street.

“The kid was screaming, ‘I’ve been shot, somebody please help, I’ve been shot in the heart, I feel like I’m dying, somebody please call the cops, call the cops.’ And that’s just what he kept repeating,” said Christina Wickham, a neighbor.

“He was covered with blood and there was people putting pressure on his chest and he didn’t look too good at all. To me, it looked like he wasn’t responsive,” said John Dupras, another neighbor who called 911 after the shooting.

There is no word on the victim’s name or condition or whether anyone will be charged after the shooting on Hutson Street.
